Named Executive Director in July 2011, Nancy Glaze provides organizational leadership and operational oversight for Arts Council Silicon Valley. A nationally recognized leader in nonprofit management and grantmaking for over 30 years, Glaze was appointed Executive Director after serving for six months as Interim Executive Director and before that, as a member of its Board of Trustees. In these roles she helped guide the Arts Council through a period of significant transition and reorganization. Before joining the the Arts Council, Glaze was Interim Executive Director of Montalvo Arts Center in Saratoga, California, where she led the organization in a similar capacity.
From 1983 to 2006, she held the position of Director of Arts Grantmaking at the David and Lucile Packard Foundation in Los Altos, California, where she oversaw a $15 million grant portfolio dedicated to the arts and national efforts in arts policy, research, and advocacy. Prior to joining the Packard Foundation, she served as the executive director of The Community School of Music and Arts in Mountain View, California.
Glaze co-authored And the Band Stopped Playing…the Rise and Fall of the San Jose Symphony and co-authored the Americans for the Arts 2007 Monograph The Arts in Transition: Preparing for a Sustainable Future. For over 15 years she served as a member of Americans for the Arts’ National Policy Board and Board of Directors. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of the San Jose Institute of Contemporary Art and CreaTV, San Jose. Glaze was a 2001 recipient of the California Arts Council award for exemplary contributions to the arts in California.
